hated, alone. Younger, he was
scared. Why is he there? His father
cheated on his wife, with a human
mistress.Gojyou is the result from this
"accident". We don't know what happened to his real mother. She probably died while giving birth, or she refuse to keep this child. The father decide to bring this baby on a rainy night to his wife, and runs off. Runs away. It was a mistake. The youkai woman, the step-mother of Gojyou, hated that child since he arrived at home. When looking at him, she only saw his loved-one cheating on her. She hated him at the first glance. Since he arrived at "his" home, she cried in front of Gojyo, beats him. Growing up in this misery, he always continues to try to please to his step-mother. With smiles and red flowers. He couldn't runs off the home: anywhere else in the villages, people were looking at him and trowing stuff at him. Half-breed are hated. They believe that they're bringing infortune and bad-luck. Stuck into the house, he suffers everyday, probably every night. Nightmares. "Why am I here? Why do I live?"
A day, the youkai woman refused once more the flowers. She took an axe. She tried to kill him. He was running, trying to get away. But he realize that it doesnt matter if he died: he don't want to see his "mother" crying again. Before he get killed, his step-brother, Jien (known as Dokukaigouji), saved him. Killing his mother, in front of the young one. Saved. From this incident, Gojyou keeps two scars on his left cheeks, and a big one on his heart. He will always remember the times where his step-brother helped him, play with him, comfort him. He will always keeps his hair long, hiding his scars, his face. He will never want to see a woman crying again.
+Deep+
Sha Gojyou is the "wild" one of the group. Laidback. Playboy. Careless. Arrogant. Not carring? Under the layer of the lanky careless womanizer, there's a place where he's soft, sweet probably. Scared to be hurted again, he just don't show his true feelings. The tallest one, he's always there to protect the others. "It is me who want to be saved..." Wild attitude. He will never cry in front of the others. Vulnerable, he would get into a tiny ball, and cry. But only with Hakkai (Gonou). Recovering fastly, he will keep smiling, hoping to get attention and some caring from the others.
With the women? A lot of women? He is searching for the love he couldn't get when he was younger. Women love him, kiss him, please him. Some men could get jealous of Gojyou. That only make him smile. Running away after a night with a woman. Running away of a girl which can cry in front of him. Scared again, he enjoy the "heat" of a night and let go.
Cigarettes, booze and condoms all around him. Some layers to hide the child.
+The Name+
Gojyo. Gojyou. Gojou. Gojo. Goujo.
"Go" means five. Enlightment here. Light? Some hotels and bridge in Japan are called: Gojyo. Meaning "five stars". Why did Minekura choose this name? Pretty loved by his creator. In the serie, it is certainly Jien who named him. About the prononciation, please say "Sza Gojyo". *smirk*
+Zodiac Sign+
9 november. That make Gojyou a Scorpio. Sign of "sex" and "death". Energetic, independent, passionate, determined, opinionated. Courage never fails and his will is like iron. He likes to dominate his passion. They (scorpios) love to manipulate others but hate to be caught in their act. The Scorpio emotions are varied and getting emotionally tangled with this sign means "passion at its very best". But don't think that all Scorpio stands for, is sex, because these people need a lot of love and nurturing too. If you have a Scorpio as a friend, you can be fairly sure that they will be a pal forever, as long as you play by the rules (i.e. their rules most definitely).
+With Others+
Sanzo. Fire and Ice(we can say "fire" and "water", looking at their elements). Bad friends? They are watching the back of each other. Corrupted monk, pervert kappa. Not a good relation. Gojyou like to make Sanzo angry. Sanzo like to hit Gojyou. Whatever.
Hakkai. Best pals. Friendship, love? They complete each other. They understand each other. Hakkai can rely on Gojyou to cheer him up, make him smile, and more. Gojyou can rely on Hakkai for comfort and security.
Goku. A little brother he never had. Always getting into a fight with each other. For food especially, or when it is to hot, to cold... Those two make the "big show" of the serie. Unless they're not fighthing, they can protect each other.
+Gojyou Madness+
Episode 4. Crimson. The first episode based on Gojyou's past with Shunrei.
Episode 14. Sweet client. Loving children, Gojyou is saving and comforting a young girl, Meihou. So cute!
Episode 15-16. Fated guys. Be there. The first time Gojyou meet Hakkai (Gonou). We know about their relation, about his true feelings.
Episode 24. Mother. Gojyou meet a young mother, Yami. She have a "taboo" baby. Brings up to the lanky one memories.
Episode 36. Brotherhood. So sweet! Gojyou have a face to face with his step-brother. Together, they bring up memories, good times. Big up for this episode. My favorite one. Jien can be so nice.
Episode 43. Tears. Goku and Gojyou have an important role here.
Episode 47. Guilty or not guilty. The last one. The hardest one for Gojyou. He have to face his step-mother again. Please, don't cry...
I think that Gojyou has a more important role in the manga. Almost all of the volumes can be based on his story. (especially vol.5, 7,8,9) The Kazuya favorite one? I wont name here all the time he appears. Big role when he's meeting Hakkai and Kami-sama (think about the 2 youngs youkai brothers)
+Why Him?+
My favorite one, the only one. Beautiful, extremely beautiful. Not only physically. A sweet mind. "L'Ange Rose". Angel (ange) because he survived throught the hard moments in his life, because he will always care for the others. Maybe he got invisible wings to get stronger and stronger. Pink (rose) because his hair looks really yummy! It's not like blood to me, but most like a strawberry-candy-like.
I think that the serie wouldn't be the same without him. That can be showed in the manga when Gojyou runs off, looking for Kami. The three other are going all mad. If he wouldnt be there, I wouldnt have looked at Saiyuki, ever. And if he died (in the story), *gasp* I'll get more mad then his companions.
